Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, featuring CM Punk, Oba Femi and The Rock.
• During an interview on NightCap with Shannon Sharpe and Ochocinco, CM Punk was asked about his biggest dream match opponents.
Here’s what Punk said:
“One name always comes to mind, and that’s Stone Cold Steve Austin. Unfortunately, he had to retire because of injuries, and he had a stroke, but Bret Hart is another one.
Bret Hart would be a dream for me because that is a guy I looked up to when I was a kid. That’s a guy that helped get me into this sport from an interest perspective and that’s a guy who, to this day, I could text Bret right now and be like, ‘What’s up? I have a question and need some advice.’ He’ll hit me back right away. Much love to him.
We have a pretty wealthy locker room when it comes to talent right now. There are a lot of people I would love to get in there with Gunther, he’s the champ on RAW.
Would love to mix it up with my boy Cody (Rhodes). As far as legends go, the ones that probably aren’t going to happen but are dream matches, Austin is number one with a bullet.”
CM Punk has faced many legends during his career, including The Undertaker, The Rock, John Cena, Brock Lesnar & more.

• Oba Femi captured the NXT Championship this past Tuesday at New Year’s Evil, defeating Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe in a triple threat match in the main event.
However, the show’s closing segment featured The Rock, who praised the NXT crowd’s energy and declared NXT as the must-see show.
During an interview on Busted Open Radio, Oba was asked about The Rock ‘stealing TV time’ from him. Here’s what the new NXT Champion said:
“At the moment the time was being stolen from me, I wasn’t even aware it was being stolen from me. Maybe if I knew, I would have gone up to him and been like, ‘Hey, Uncle Dwayne, what are you doing?’
I’ll let it slide this time, but next time Uncle Dwayne comes in and steals time from me, there are going to be problems.”
