• CM Punk Says Match With Stone Cold Was A Possibility At One Point

During his appearance at Starrcast III, former WWE wrestler CM Punk talked about WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.

Punk recalled a time when he was competing in a dark match and needed a way to send the fans home happy.

Austin was backstage at that show and he approached him and asked if he would like to come out to the ring to hit him with a Stunner to send the fans home happy. Austin said “Hell Yeah” and Punk informed the other heels in the match that Austin would be delivering Stunners and they were all excited.

After that night, Punk said “I would poke him and say how about that match motherf***er?”

Punk noted that “there was a sliver of time” when that match could’ve happened.

As we previously noted in one of our article, Dirty Sheets’ source revealed that there were talks of Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. CM Punk taking place at WrestleMania 29:

“Austin pretty much gave up on his in-ring return when the WWE squashed a WrestleMania 32 match with Brock Lesnar – a match that both guys desperately wanted.

Prior to this, the WWE also squashed a CM Punk vs. Austin match at WrestleMania 29, not wanting to over-spend on talent, with The Rock and Lesnar (on his original $5 million deal) already on board.

It is believed that Austin wanted both matches, and was also willing to look up at the lights for both.”
