CM Punk’s Planned Opponent For AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2023

On June 17, CM Punk will return to Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling and main event the debut episode of their new TV show ‘AEW Collision’ on TNT.

Punk will team up with AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR and take on ROH TV Champion Samoa Joe and Bullet Club Gold (Jay White & Juice Robinson) in a Trios Match.

The AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2023 PPV will take place at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on June 25th and it is sold out.

As of this writing, only 2 matches have been confirmed so far for this PPV:

– Bryan Danielson vs. Kazuchika Okada

IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship Match: Kenny Omega (c) vs. Will Ospreay

According to Fightful Select, Tony Khan wants to book CM Punk vs. KENTA (fka Hideo Itami in WWE) for this event.

KENTA has reportedly told Officials that he’d be willing to work this event if the money is right. On the other hand, AEW Officials are willing to match KENTA’s asking price to give their fans this match.

It’s well known that Punk took his GTS (Go To Sleep) finisher from KENTA, and KENTA recently teased showing up on the debut episode of Collision to confront Punk.
