• Complete Results From Tonight’s AEW Dynamite

– Tonight’s AEW Dynamite kicked off with Jon Moxley making his return to All Elite Wrestling programming.

Moxley said nobody gets through life unscathed. We all carry scars, sometimes we try to pretend those scars aren’t there, but those are the scars that give us strength.

He said he didn’t run from his demons, he just beat the sh*t out of them. Moxley issued a challenge to anyone that thinks they can put him through more hell than he’s been already through, he gladly welcomes them to try.

– MJF told Wardlow that he has to lower his paycheck since he put his hands on him last week, but if he qualifies for the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match, it will go back up.

– Adam Cole & AEW Women’s World Champion Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. def. Orange Cassidy & Kris Statlander

– In a backstage interview, Chris Jericho said he doesn’t care about Eddie Kingston. Santana & Ortiz got upset with Jericho and said that Eddie Kingston brought up valid points last week as they’ve had Jericho’s back since the first episode of Dynamite, but don’t believe Jericho has been doing the same for them. Santana & Ortiz said next week they’ll show that they don’t need Jericho anymore.

– Adam Cole challenged Orange Cassidy to a Lights Out Unsanctioned Match for next week’s Beach Break special episode of AEW Dynamite.

– CM Punk def. Shawn Spears in less than 10 seconds (After the match, MJF tried to attack Punk, but Punk caught him. Punk went to hit MJF, but MJF ran away as Punk taunted him with his scarf)

– TNT Champion Cody Rhodes returned. He recently tested positive for COVID-19.

Cody said CM Punk’s pipebomb in WWE was the first whiff of a revolution. He laid out a road map, things like going to New Japan Pro Wrestling & working for Ring Of Honor and while Punk left wrestling, Cody carried that revolution.

Cody said he started the forbidden door thing before it was a thing.

Cody pointed that Tony Khan has a contract in the mail for him, but maybe it’s not the contract he wanted. Fans chanted “Royal Rumble” at him as he’s a Free Agent right now, but Cody didn’t react to those chants.

Cody challenged Interim TNT Champion Sammy Guevara to a Ladder Match to crown the undisputed TNT Champion.

During this segment, Cody took a shot at WWE changing WALTER’s name to Gunther. Below is what he said:

“I know we’re not in the business of renaming people Gunther McGillicutty, but showing up in AEW and calling yourself Brody takes balls.”

– The House of Black (Malakai Black & Brody King) def. Varsity Blonds (Brian Pillman Jr. & Griff Garrison) (After the match, Pac said Malakai Black has become Power Hungry and will have to make a martyr out of him)

– Lance Archer (with Jake “The Snake” Roberts) def. Frankie Kazarian (After the match, AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page confronted Archer and the two started slugging it out)

– Leyla Hirsch turned heel and attacked both Red Velvet and Kris Statlander backstage.

– Serena Deeb def. Skye Blue

– Matt Hardy revealed he has sold 51% of the HFO (Hardy Family Office) to Andrade El Idolo. Andrade will act as El Presidente, while Matt handles the Day to Day Operations and it has been renamed to the AHFO.

– Sting & Darby Allin def. The Acclaimed

• On This Day In Pro Wrestling History (January 19, 1997) – WWF Royal Rumble 1997

On this day in Pro Wrestling history on January 19, 1997, the World Wrestling Federation aired their annual ‘Royal Rumble’ event LIVE on PPV from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

This was the first Royal Rumble match out of three (97,98 & 01) that was won by “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, but he won this one in a very controversial way as he was originally eliminated but the referees did not see it.

– Ahmed Johnson defeated Faarooq by DQ

– Vader defeated The Undertaker

– Canek, Héctor Garza & Perro Aguayo defeated Fuerza Guerrera, Heavy Metal & Jerry Estrada

– Stone Cold Steve Austin won the 30-man Royal Rumble match
