Today would have been the 59th birthday of “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert (Real name: Thomas Gilbert Jr.).

Eddie wrestled for all the major big promotions during his career, including the World Wrestling Federation, Jim Crockett Promotions, World Championship Wrestling, Mid-South/UWF, ECW, USWA, GWF, …

He was married to famous wrestling valet Missy Hyatt from 1987 till 1989 and then married Madusa (later known as Alundra Blayze) in 1992.

In 1995, we lost Eddie due to a heart attack.

– Big E vs. John Morrison couldn’t begin as RETRIBUTION attacked them

– Some of the SmackDown wrestlers talked about what to do about RETRIBUTION. King Corbin wants everyone to stand behind him. Big E said he won’t allow the Foot Clan dorks to scare him away

– Asuka eliminated Shayna Baszler in the end in the Triple Brand Battle Royal to become the #1 contender for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at SummerSlam

– Mandy Rose challenged Sonya Deville to a “Hair vs. Hair” match at SummerSlam

– Sheamus def. Shorty G

– AJ Styles introduced P.I.S.S. aka Phenomenal Intercontinental Statistics System. AJ goes by the statistics and claimed no one has earned a shot against him. Jeff Hardy interrupted and said he was never eliminated from the Intercontinental Title Tournament, and asked AJ for a match against him at SummerSlam. AJ declined. Jeff took out AJ and wrote his name on the board. Later in a backstage segment, Styles said Hardy doesn’t respect analytics or the Intercontinental Title

– Gran Metalik def. SmackDown Tag Team Champion Shinsuke Nakamura with some help from the returning Kalisto (who was out of action with an injury)

– Shorty G offered an apology to Matt Riddle, and he accepted it. King Corbin then attacked Riddle

– Sonya Deville accepted Mandy Rose’s challenge for a “Hair vs. Hair” match at SummerSlam

– AJ Styles vs. Jeff Hardy for the Intercontinental Championship will take place on next week’s SmackDown

– Universal Champion Braun Strowman returns after shaving his head bald and said he’s going to tear The Fiend apart and called him out. Alexa Bliss came out instead and said they have been friends for years, but now he’s changed. Braun said they’re not friends and claimed Alexa has been using him as a puppet.

Alexa slapped Braun multiple times. This led to Strowman picking her up for a Gorilla Press Slam and dropped her in the ring face-first when The Fiend appeared. When The Fiend was standing in the ring, Strowman disappeared and was seen on the titantron laughing
