Below are some top WWE news stories of the day, involving CM Punk.
• Ever since his return to WWE, CM Punk has said multiple times that he’s back “home”.
WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley didn’t like this and said the following on Busted Open Radio:
“Stop! Because when CM Punk says, ‘I’m home’, it sounds like a crock of sh*t to me’.
You can’t call someplace home that you’ve gone on record to say caused you mental and physical harm, so I would much rather see Punk talk about being back in WWE rather than home.
When CM Punk says home, it doesn’t come across as genuine to me.”
• CM Punk appears to be making long-term plans within WWE, specifically aiming to succeed Shawn Michaels in NXT.
Following his recent appearance at the Deadline premium live event, Punk was backstage at the WWE NXT taping on December 12, spending time at the WWE Performance Center and offering feedback to talents before the show.
According to WrestlePurists, Punk’s goal is to take on the role currently held by Shawn Michaels, who is the Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative and oversees day-to-day operations at NXT:
“CM Punk’s long term goal is to succeed Shawn Michaels in NXT. Was told he was buzzing last night, didn’t sleep and flew to Orlando. He’ll be doing a lot of observing, seeing how things work over there in terms of TV production.”
This move could signify Punk’s commitment to being a significant part of WWE for years to come, with a particular focus on contributing to the development and success of NXT.
