Tony Khan doesn’t plan on using CM Punk much on AEW Dynamite, and wants to keep him as the top attraction of their new TV Show, Collision.
This is being done to avoid a conflict between Punk and The Elite (Kenny Omega, Young Bucks & “Hangman” Adam Page).
However, just a few days after his return to AEW programming on Collision, Punk ended up appearing on Dynamite.
In his promo on Dynamite, Punk mentioned that he isn’t supposed to be here, but showed up to prevent Bullet Club Gold (Jay White & Juice Robinson) & The Gunns from attacking The Hardys.
After Punk’s Dynamite appearance, the Wrestling Observer reported the following:
“One top name noted that they went home after Dynamite on Wednesday in a bad mood and even with the key people kept apart and not on the same shows, described the fear of CM Punk’s return being a ticking time bomb that will not have a happy ending.”
Punk saw this report and reacted to this “ticking time bomb” story by posting a photo with Rancid’s “Time Bomb” song playing on his Instagram story:
AEW World Tag Team Champion Dax Harwood of FTR (who is good friend of Punk) saw this report too and tweeted the following:
“This one will get me some heat, but f**k it, it needs to be said. Whatever ‘top star’ left the show in a BaD MoOd because a certain individual was there; instead of running to Dave, why not just tell the individual face to face. That’s how we used to do things back in the day.”
