Below are some top news stories of the day, involving FTR and Bryan Danielson.
• AEW initially planned for FTR to compete in the four-way tag team match for the World Tag Team Championship at Full Gear 2024.
However, Dax Harwood revealed he approached AEW President Tony Khan to advocate for The Outrunners (Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd) to take FTR’s spot.
Harwood highlighted The Outrunners’ hard work and believed they deserved the opportunity.
As a result, The Outrunners joined the match alongside AEW Tag Team Champions Private Party, Kings of the Black Throne, and The Acclaimed, with Private Party ultimately retaining the titles.
Harwood revealed the above stated information during an interview with WrestleZone, as he addressed fans’ claims of FTR latching onto popular tag teams:
“I was telling you there are some people online who like to say that we latch on, right? One of the things, people said, we latched onto The Outrunners because of their popularity.
I would beg anybody to ask The Outrunners what they thought of us and how they felt we helped them. Never once… there’s a lot that happens behind the scenes, and you know what? I’ll say it.
For example, at the last pay-per-view, the four-way tag team title match, FTR was supposed to be in one of those spots. I went to Tony and said, ‘Hey man, these guys have worked their a$$ off. They deserve that spot. Take us out and put them in.’ And he did. He agreed with me.”

• Leland Owens’ lawsuit against AEW and Bryan Danielson was dismissed on December 26, 2024, according to PWInsider.
Owens had alleged intellectual property theft, claiming he provided ideas to Danielson, including the AEW “Shockwave” event name.
He sought compensation or ownership of his ideas, citing emotional stress. The court dismissed the case due to lack of federal jurisdiction but left it without prejudice.
The following day, Owens filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Government, alleging unpaid contributions for film, television ideas, and inventions.
He implicated figures like Bryan Danielson, Mercedes Moné, Vince McMahon, and Donald Trump, demanding payment and recognition.
