Starrcade

On this day in Pro Wrestling history on December 27, 1994, Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling aired their annual ‘Starrcade’ event LIVE on PPV from the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.

This marks the first ever Starrcade after Hulk Hogan had joined WCW. Most fans don’t know this, but Hulk Hogan was originally booked to wrestle on the inaugural Starrcade in 1983, where he was supposed to team up with Wahoo McDaniel to take on the team of Dick Slater & “Cowboy” Bob Orton Jr., but the Hulkster ended up signing with the World Wrestling Federation and was replaced with Mark Youngblood.

In the main event, Hogan defended the WCW World Title against his long time friend (who turned against him shortly before the PPV), Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake, now calling himself The Butcher.

Below are the results:

• WCW United States Heavyweight Championship
Vader def. Jim Duggan (c)

• Alex Wright def. Jean-Paul Levesque

• WCW World Television Championship
Johnny B. Badd (c) def. Arn Anderson

• The Nasty Boys def. Harlem Heat via DQ
Mr. T def. Kevin Sullivan

• Sting def. Avalanche via DQ

• WCW World Heavyweight Championship
Hulk Hogan (c) def. The Butcher
