On This Day In Pro Wrestling History (July 21, 2005) – “Lord” Alfred Hayes Passes Away

RIP Rest In Peace

On this day in Pro Wrestling History on July 21, 2005, we lost Old School Wrestling Legend & former WWF announcer “Lord” Alfred Hayes at the age of 76. Pretty much every single Old School WWF Fan remembers Lord Alfred for being an announcer and commentator on various WWF TV shows & PPVs, but the british gentleman from London, England also used to be a highly skilled Professional Wrestler before that.

He wrestled in the UK during the 50s & 60s, before coming to the United States where he was an active wrestler during the 70s and early 80s. During the 1970s, Hayes challenged for both, the NWA World Heavyweight Championship (against Champion Dory Funk Jr.) and the WWWF World Heavyweight Championship (against Champion Bruno Sammartino), but lost both matches.

Rest In Peace Lord Alfred Hayes
August 8, 1928 – July 21, 2005
