• Drew McIntyre Reveals His Pitch For WrestleMania 37 Which Was Turned Down

A month before WrestleMania 37, Drew McIntyre and Sheamus battled in a No Holds Barred match at the FastLane 2021 PPV, which McIntyre won.

During a recent interview with BT Sport, McIntyre and Sheamus revealed that they wanted this match to take place at WrestleMania 37, but their pitch was shot down.

Here’s what they said during this interview:

Sheamus: “Yeah, we really were hoping this was gonna be WrestleMania. That’s where we felt the feud should basically climax, should come to an end at WrestleMania. I fought as hard as I could; we both did, to make that happen, but you do what you can do, you know? Make it the best way you can.”

McIntyre: “If you see the pre-match video (for our Fastlane match), you’ll see that this was really WrestleMania worthy. Just the story, the real story we have…and we can always come back around maybe at next year’s WrestleMania. When we get fans back, [the storyline] will be new again. But it was certainly a disappointment, we’re gonna have to do it again.”

At WrestleMania 37, McIntyre went on to face Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship and lost. On the other hand, Sheamus defeated Riddle to win the United States Championship.
