• “Eventually it’s going to happen” – WWF Legend On Nancy Benoit’s WWE Hall Of Fame Induction
During a recent episode of his weekly ‘Foley Is Pod’ podcast, WWF Legend Mick Foley spoke about the 2007 Benoit family tragedy, that included WWF/WCW Veteran Chris Benoit killing his wife Nancy Benoit (fka Nancy Sullivan) and their 7-year-old son Daniel Benoit, before taking his own life, as stated in the FBI report that has since been confirmed by many different official sources.
When he talked about a possible Hall of Fame induction for Nancy, who worked as a valet for various promotions (including WCW, ECW, CWF, …), the former Mankind had the following to say:
“The three different runs she’s had, she’s really deserving of more recognition. The holy grail is the WWE Hall of Fame. I think eventually it’s going to happen. I don’t know if it’s going to happen in the next few years though.
I think you want to give those a few years you know? It’s tough when you induct someone posthumously and the deaths are not by natural causes. I think you gotta space them out a little bit.”
While a Nancy Benoit’s Hall of Fame induction (most likely under her former name Nancy Sullivan) could very well happen at some point in the future, especially considering they are inducting 1 token female inductee every year now, we can 100% rule out a future induction of Chris Benoit himself.
Not because he wouldn’t deserve it for his great pro-wrestling career and multiple title wins, which is certainly out of question, but because WWE is a publicly traded company and they could get in trouble and even sued by their shareholders/stockholders if they induct him and it results in media headlines such as “WWE Honoring A Child Killer” for example.
A Chris Benoit induction – as much as many fans still want that to happen – can be completely ruled out and is not going to happen.
