• Ex-WWE Talent Has Been At Multiple AEW/ROH Shows Following Recent Departure
Zayda Steel (age 22) parted ways with WWE last month after her contract expired, bringing an end to her run in the ID program.
Fightful Select previously reported that AEW reached out to Steel shortly after her WWE exit. There was contact between the two sides, but she had not officially joined the promotion at that time.
Self Made PW then revealed that Steel was spotted backstage at a TV taping. She recorded a pre-taped promo for Ring of Honor, and the expectation was that she would appear on ROH programming in the coming weeks.
In a new update, Fightful Select states that Steel still has not signed with AEW or ROH yet. However, many within AEW now believe that a deal is coming soon, especially since she has been backstage at “a number of recent TV episodes.”
• “MJF? Who is that?” – Bret Hart
MJF is one of the top names in All Elite Wrestling and widely considered one of the best all-around performers in pro wrestling currently. But it seems like Bret Hart isn’t familiar with him at all.
During The Hitman’s interview on the Johnny I Pro Show, a fan shouted MJF’s name. The 3-time WWE Hall of Famer genuinely didn’t recognize the name and admitted that he barely follows wrestling anymore.
“Who? MJF? Who is that? Just curious though, who is it? AEW wrestler? As you can tell, I don’t watch a lot anymore.”
Bret also mentioned in the same interview that he believes wrestling in this era has become too fake:
“I have a hard time watching today’s wrestling. I just can’t really watch it. It’s too fake for me. But, I love watching the old 90s wrestling.
Like when I watch my matches back, or in almost any match, even obscure Stampede Wrestling matches, there’s something about the realism, the punches, the kicks, and even just the way the presentation is.
It just seems to me to be more onus put on the workmanship of learning the craft of being wrestlers.”
