• Former AEW Champion Is Not Cleared To Compete After Mercedes Mone Match
Former AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter hasn’t wrestled since her match with Mercedes Moné at Double Or Nothing. After this match, she had an angle with Thekla on the next episode of Dynamite. Since then, Hayter hasn’t returned to TV, and she was not present at this past week’s Dynamite taping. Sources within AEW told Fightful Select that she would be used if she were cleared, suggesting she is currently not medically cleared to compete. There’s still no official word on when she’ll be back.
The company reportedly had to “get creative” when booking the segment with Thekla, which is why the lights were turned off during their brief interaction. AEW is said to be hopeful for Hayter’s return soon, but for now, her status remains up in the air.
• D-Von Dudley Reveals How Much He’s Making From WWE Royalty Checks
On his YouTube channel, WWE Hall of Famer D-Von Dudley explained how lucrative a WWE Legends contract can be. D-Von said these deals offer retired wrestlers a steady stream of income even after they’ve stepped out of the ring.
Here’s what the Tag Team Legend said:
“There’s something called a Legends contract, or Legends deal. I’m proud to say Bubba and I signed ours about two, maybe three years ago, and it’s been a great opportunity.
Back in the ’80s and ’90s, once you were done, that was it, there were no deals like this to keep earning. Times have changed, and I’m glad I’ve adapted with them.
These deals allow WWE to use your likeness, for video games, action figures, t-shirts, cups, just about anything. So you’re still earning with the company, and in many cases, it’s really good money.
When you’re getting royalty checks over $30,000 to $40,000, that’s definitely something to be happy about. I’m very content with how it’s all going.”
