Former WWE Superstar CM Punk is set to return on the debut episode of AEW Collision in his hometown of Chicago on June 17th, which has been confirmed in an announcement by All Elite Wrestling owner Tony Khan.

It’s not a secret that Punk originally took the idea for his GTS finisher from KENTA (aka former NXT main eventer Hideo Itami) and he has admitted doing so multiple times in the past.

KENTA took to Twitter and teased a possible confrontation between the two at the first edition of AEW Collision, when he tweeted the following:

“I’m free on June 17th.”

CM Punk joined Tony Khan’s AEW in 2021 and managed to win the AEW World Title twice (and got injured during both reigns), but got suspended over a backstage fight that took place after the All Out 2022 PPV and hasn’t been seen on TV since.

KENTA currently works for New Japan Pro Wrestling. NJPW has a working relationship with AEW (they even have a joint pay-per-view this month, AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door), so Punk vs. KENTA could become a reality if the bookers want to do it.
