According to the PWInsider, former TNA & NWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis (fka Magnus) – who has already been working in a backstage position as a WWE producer – is going to make his on-screen WWE TV debut tonight on SmackDown.

Here’s what they reported:

“Former NWA World Champion Nick Aldis will make his official WWE TV debut tonight, PWInsider has learned.

Aldis will be portraying an authority figure for the SmackDown brand going forward, which means he’s likely signed with the company.

It is possible this is the Triple H announcement tonight, but we have not confirmed that.

Aldis has been working of late as a Producer for WWE.”

Nick Aldis first appeared in Dixie Carter’s Total Nonstop Action! (TNA) in 2008 as Brutus Magnus and later went just by ‘Magnus’, even managing to win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship in December 2013.

Magnus was released in June 2015 and joined Jeff Jarrett’s Global Force Wrestling (GFW) the next day, where he eventually became the inaugural GFW Global Champion in October 2015.

In September 2017, Aldis joined the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), that had been purchased by Billy Corgan a few months earlier, and ended up becoming the longest reigning NWA World Heavyweight Champion of the modern era, when he held the title from October 21st 2018 until August 29th 2021 (after already holding the belt from 2017 till 2018).

He left the NWA in November 2022 and briefly returned to IMPACT Wrestling in 2023, before signing with WWE.

As of this writing, WWE has announced the following for tonight’s SmackDown:

– Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns returns

– John Cena will appear

– Triple H will make a special appearance

– Cody Rhodes & Jey Uso (c) vs. Austin Theory & Grayson Waller for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship

– Pretty Deadly vs. Brawling Brutes (Butch & Ridge Holland)
