Nigel McGuinness (aka Desmond Wolfe in TNA) recently spoke to Wrestlingnewsco and was asked whether he’d consider one more pro-wrestling match.

He then revealed that he’s afraid of performing another match, as he might get injured or even dead as a result.

Here’s what the former NXT commentator said about the potential of an in-ring return:

“To be honest with you, I’m better used in a commentary role at the moment. I don’t want to injure myself. I don’t want to k*ll myself.”

During the post-AEW Double Or Nothing 2023 media scrum, Bryan Danielson (fka Daniel Bryan in WWE) said the following about the possibility of wrestling Nigel again:

“I think Nigel McGuinness probably needs to shut his mouth a little bit. I don’t think at this point in his life he can handle the same intensity he could in 2006.

I think the world of him as a wrestler, and I think the world of him as a commentator.

He no longer has the physical ability to match up with me. He did at one point. But here I am… I’m 42 years old and it doesn’t matter. I train so hard to stay like this, he stopped training.

Do you think you can catch back up in 3 months? No, you can’t. I look at his neck, and I think I’d break it.”

Nigel McGuinness wrestled professionally from September 1999 until December 2011. He spent most of his career on the independent scene, except for his 2009-2011 run with Dixie Carter’s ‘Total Nonstop Action!’ as Desmond Wolfe.
