Former 2-time UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez was released from his WWE contract in 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic related budget-cuts.

During a recent interview on The MMA Hour, Cain spoke about his WWE release and stated that he doesn’t hold a grudge against the promotion.

Here’s what he had to say:

“I don’t. I think it was meant for me to go there. I’m glad I got the experience of knowing what it’s all about. Knowing how the company works, how the guys work, everything.

It was a great learning experience. I learned a lot from it. All I can do is take that and make it better next time if they give me another chance or just know what that is and appreciate my time.”

Cain Velasquez lost to Brock Lesnar at the WWE Crown Jewel 2019 PPV in Saudi Arabia, in what was booked to be Brock’s revenge after losing an MMA fight to Cain at the UFC 121 PPV in 2010.

He only wrestled 2 matches in WWE, the above stated WWE Title match against Brock and a Tag Team match at a Live Event, where he teamed up with Humberto Carrillo to defeat Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson.
