Dolph Ziggler, now known by his real name Nic Nemeth, bid farewell to WWE in 2023 after nearly two decades with the company.

Despite achieving numerous milestones, including two World Championship reigns, there was a disconnect between WWE’s perception and the fans’ view of Ziggler’s potential. Interestingly, Ziggler himself didn’t see eye-to-eye with WWE either.

He recently revealed that he once attempted to secure his release by sending a lengthy 20-page email to Vince McMahon.

The 20-Page Email

During an appearance on Eyes Up Here, Ziggler disclosed the contents of the essay-length email he sent to McMahon:

“I go, ‘Vince, thanks for everything,’ 20-page email. This is the greatest job in the world, and then I aired out some dirty laundry about how I was mad just in the last couple of paragraphs, but the rest was very, very positive.”

Despite expressing frustration, Ziggler maintained a positive tone throughout most of the email.

Timing and McMahon’s Response

The exact timing of Ziggler’s email remains unclear. However, since it was addressed to McMahon, it likely occurred well before his eventual release—after McMahon was no longer at the helm. Ziggler also referenced teaming with Robert Roode in the email, suggesting it was during their partnership. Even winning the Tag Team Titles with Roode didn’t sway Ziggler’s desire to stay.

Ziggler’s Current Journey

Under the Nemeth name, Ziggler has thrived as a free agent. He swiftly captured New Japan’s Global Heavyweight Title and currently holds AAA’s Mega Champion title after defeating Alberto El Patron at Triplemania. While he enjoys this chapter of his career, one can’t help but wonder how different things might have been had McMahon granted his release earlier.
