Below are a couple of top AEW news stories of the day:
– Former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa hasn’t stepped inside the ring since the summer of 2022. After suffering a back injury, she relinquished the AEW Women’s World Championship on the August 24th 2022 episode of Dynamite.
She has been training to return to the ring over the past couple of months, and often shares her progress in the vlogs she uploads on YouTube. She also participated in a mini-match at the end of August.
The Wrestling Observer is reporting that Rosa is now expected back very shortly.
– Mercedes Moné (fka Sasha Banks) left WWE in May 2022 and debuted for NJPW at Wrestle Kingdom at the start of this year.
Her contract with NJPW expired on April 27th after which she signed a longer deal with the company, according to a report from the Wrestling Observer.
Moné suffered an ankle injury when she slipped off the top rope in the first ever NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship match against Willow Nightingale at NJPW Resurgence.
Moné was originally supposed to win the match, but plans changed and Nightingale got the win as Moné suffered the injury. She underwent surgery on her ankle, but it’s unknown when she will return to the ring.
The Wrestling Observer provided an update on Moné and revealed that she is no longer wearing the walking boot she was using while rehabbing from the injury. However, there is still no exact timeframe for her return.
It is expected that she will continue to work for NJPW and STARDOM once she’s cleared to return to the ring, and will show up in AEW too.
Moné recently teased showing up at AEW Full Gear in November on her Instagram.
