• Former WWE Writer On Why Vince McMahon Never Pushed Japanese Wrestlers To The Top

Japan has produced a lot of good wrestlers over the years, but none of them reached the top of the mountain in the WWE.

During an episode of Wrestling with Freddie podcast, former WWE Writer Freddie Prinze Jr. explained former WWE CEO Vince McMahon’s thought process behind pushing Japanese wrestlers.

Below is what he said:

“It’s just a cultural ignorance, man. Vince always felt – and this is public – if English isn’t their first language, the American fan is always going to look at them as a heel.

If they’re a babyface, they’re going to look at that – he wanted them to be like funny and goofy. I think that’s why.

There was a lot of like goofy Mr. Moto when it came to Japanese wrestlers over here.”
