Below are a couple of top WWE & AEW news stories of the day, featuring Saturday Night’s Main Event and Malakai Black.

• Former WWF Champion Shawn Michaels is confirmed to appear at the Saturday Night’s Main Event special on January 25th at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.

The announcement adds further excitement to the event, which already features marquee matches, including Gunther vs. Jey Uso for the World Heavyweight Championship and Bron Breakker vs. Sheamus for the Intercontinental Championship. The December special had a compact four-match card, suggesting a similar format for this event.

According to WrestleVotes, HBK, a San Antonio native, will make a non-wrestling appearance:

“We can confirm that there are plans for San Antonio’s own Shawn Michaels to be present and appear on the show. We are told HBK likely won’t have any physicality to his involvement, but WWE is planning on utilizing the legend in his hometown next weekend.

I know he’s present almost each and every week on NXT, but he’s certainly less HBK on that show than he could be in a special appearance.”

Michaels’ presence, especially in his hometown, is sure to add nostalgia and excitement for fans attending the show.

• As we have reported before, multiple sources have reported that Malakai Black (fka Aleister Black in WWE) is set to leave AEW soon.

According to PWTorch, WWE officials are interested in having him back:

“There are influential people in WWE who are big fans of Black and see him as a possible top singles act in the company.”

Black has reportedly told people close to him that he’s interested in returning to WWE now that Triple H runs the creative.

According to PWInsider, Black is expected to become a free agent in February or March. Black’s wife, Zelina Vega, works in WWE, so him returning to WWE would make sense.
