• Former WWF Champion Helped Bring Goldberg To WWE
On the new episode of his weekly ‘Grilling JR’ podcast, Old School WWF commentator Jim Ross talked about WCW Legend Goldberg coming to World Wrestling Entertainment in 2003, and revealed that none other than Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson helped bring in the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion.
Here’s what J.R. had to say about Goldberg’s 1st run in WWE:
“Yeah, Rock had a great influence and impact on that whole negotiation because he was the top guy. He was The Rock.
And anytime you can get a top guy to vouch for you, that they want to work with you at the biggest event of the year, how could it not make you feel pretty good?”
Goldberg wrestled for Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling from 1997 until 2001, including 1 reign as the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, before working for Vince McMahon’s WWE from 2003 to 2004, also including 1 reign as the World Heavyweight Champion.
He eventually returned in 2016 and has been used as a special attraction ever since.

On this day in 1990, the World Wrestling Federation aired an episode of their weekly TV show ‘WWF Wrestling Challenge’.
It was broadcasted from the Onondoga War Memorial in Syracuse, New York and featured pre-taped matches, promos & storyline segments on the road to the ‘WWF Royal Rumble 1991’ PPV.
