During a recent WrestleBinge interview, Old School WWF Legend Sgt. Slaughter took credit for finding The Undertaker in 1990 and inviting him to the Titan Tower to meet Vince McMahon.

Here’s what the former WWF Champion said:

“If you’re listening, Mark Calaway. I just want to ask you one thing, I found you in a box of tapes.

Sgt. Slaughter found you in a box of tapes, and I called you three times because the first few times, you hung up on me because you didn’t believe it was me.

But finally, I gave him the office number, and I said ask for me when you call this number. And he said ‘Oh, it is you’. I said ‘Yeah, it is me’.

Guess who you didn’t invite to the Hall of Fame? Me! Sgt. Slaughter, the guy that found him, the guy that brought him to Vince McMahon and said, here’s the guy.

This is your guy. Can you imagine not being invited to his Hall of Fame? I should have been in the front row.”

Slaughter might have contacted The Undertaker, but the man who originally suggested Vince McMahon to take a look at Mark Calaway, was Hulk Hogan after Mark played a role in his movie ‘Suburban Commando’.

2004 WWE Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter then continued the interview by also taking credit for coming up with the legendary Yokozuna character in 1992:

“I created Yokozuna at that time. Rodney was there, and Vince said ‘I don’t know what to do with this guy’.

I said ‘He is a hell of a talent, I’ve worked with him many times’. He said ‘Yeah, but I’ve got 10 Samoans now, I don’t know what to do with him’.

So I started thinking about a Sumo wrestler, and he came through with flying colors. We all stayed there. We fought that war, we won the war.”

Sgt. Slaughter wrestled professionally since 1972 and worked for several major promotions, including the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) / World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Jim Crockett Promotions (NWA) and Verne Gagne’s American Wrestling Association (AWA).
