Gail Kim issued the following statement after getting released from TNA:
“I Just wanted to say thank you to the fans, friends and especially my peers for all the support you have given me over the last few days. I’ve received such an enormous amount of love and it really has helped process this change for me.
More than anything I am grateful for all the years and opportunities I was given to help build something I always dreamed of. The [Knockouts] division is and will always be my heart and all the women who were a part of it. Thanks to the incredibly hard working and passionate TNA talent & crew that I have had the pleasure of working with.
This will not end my passion or my love for wrestling and this is not the end of Gail Kim in the wrestling world. You don’t put in 17 years in one company and stop when you are this passionate. I look forward to sharing my journey and am taking some time for myself and prepare for what’s ahead. Looking forward to the future.
THANK YOU and one last thought… More women in leadership roles. Not less.”
Gail Kim has long been an advocate for women in wrestling, both as performers and in backstage roles, and her statement hints at potential frustration with TNA’s direction. This sentiment aligns with recent reports of budget cuts and roster changes at TNA, which have led to the release of other talent and staff in 2025, as the company navigates its rebranding and partnership with WWE.
Kim’s contributions to wrestling extend beyond TNA, where she was a 7-time Knockouts World Champion. She also had a notable run in WWE from 2002 to 2004 and from 2008 to 2011, where she won the Women’s Championship on her debut, though she was underutilized during her tenure.
Her return to TNA allowed her to cement her legacy as one of the most influential women in the industry, earning her a spot in the TNA Hall of Fame in 2016. Fans and peers have rallied around her following the news, with many expressing hope that she will land in a new role where her expertise can continue to shape women’s wrestling.
