Goldberg has announced plans to hold his retirement match in WWE in 2025.
Referring to Gunther and his showdown with the World Heavyweight Champion at WWE Bad Blood, Goldberg said, “I think we know who the subject or the victim, the frontrunner right now, we know who it is.”
He shared this news on the SEC Network before the Florida vs. Georgia game. Goldberg noted he would have a few months to prepare, though the date and time for the match are still undetermined. Triple H, Nick Khan, and Chris Legentil have all approved the retirement match.
Goldberg’s last match was at WWE Elimination Chamber 2022, where he was defeated by Roman Reigns in a Universal Championship match.

Ahead of Crown Jewel, Gunther sent a warning to Goldberg.
Here’s what The Ring General said during his appearance on La Previa de WWE: Crown Jewel:
“I was invited out there to speak about the Crown Jewel Championship and we had a lot of legends in the house, and I met a lot of them backstage and one of the very few that I didn’t meet that I just saw was there before was Goldberg so when our eyes crossed, basically, I was like, why not break some balls a little bit?
He doesn’t seem able to take things lightly. I tried to lighten up the mood a little bit.
If push comes to shove and he thinks he wants to get back into the business and wrestle again, then, I’m happy to teach him a lesson.”
