As anticipation builds for Goldberg’s final match in WWE, the WCW icon continues to open up about the mental and physical preparation behind what may be the most important bout of his career. Appearing recently on the CarCast podcast, Goldberg revealed just how demanding his training has been—and even hinted at a possible change in his iconic ring gear.

Goldberg on Retirement Match: “It’s Really Tough”

Bill Goldberg, who recently confirmed he knows the date of his retirement match but hasn’t made it public, shared how high the standards are that he’s set for himself. The 58-year-old wrestling legend admitted the process hasn’t been easy.

“I’ve got a very high bar to set that I set for myself and 99 times out of a 100, it’s unrealistic,” he said. “I’ve gotta be in a certain place mentally and physically to be able to accomplish what I’m about to embark upon and it’s really tough. It’s really tough.”

While fans might focus on the training itself, Goldberg pointed out that something as basic as his diet has become a major challenge in his preparation.

Goldberg Says Eating to Train Has Become a Full-Time Struggle

In order to gain lean muscle and appear physically imposing for his final match, Goldberg has had to push his eating habits to the limit.

“I freakin’ eat 8 times a day, and I walk around and I feel like I’m about to throw up at any given moment because I’m just completely full of frickin’ food,” he admitted. “I gained some good weight. I was almost up to 270 and I had to back off because I could not function… I felt horrible, I wasn’t able to move around.”

Eventually, he changed his diet back, focusing more on mobility and energy than just bulking up. Despite the adjustments, he still has ambitious expectations for how he’ll look when he steps into the ring.

“For a 58-year-old guy, I’m gonna be in some seriously freakin’ awesome shape and I’m gonna freak some people out I believe,” he said. “Hopefully my performance is equal to my appearance.”

Goldberg Hints at New Ring Gear for Final WWE Appearance

In a surprising revelation, Goldberg also said he’s considering abandoning his trademark black trunks for the very first time.

“I’m terrified to put those underwear, those trunks on again,” he said. “I may even go with a different kind of trunks, for the only time in my life.”

Whether Goldberg sticks to his classic look or unveils something new, fans are already hyped for what promises to be a unique and emotional sendoff for the Hall of Famer.
