WCW Legend Goldberg is preparing for his long-awaited retirement match in WWE, and while the date has not been made public, the former World Heavyweight Champion confirmed that the date has been finalized internally. Speaking on the CarCast podcast, Goldberg offered detailed insight into his physical struggles, mindset, and training process ahead of the final bout of his storied career.

Goldberg Confirms His Final WWE Match Is Set

Goldberg has finally set a date for his retirement match, although he did not disclose it publicly. What’s even more intriguing is that rumors are swirling the match could be against Gunther, who is currently feuding with Jey Uso over the World Heavyweight Championship.

“I know the date. No one else knows the date public-wise,” Goldberg stated. “At my age, you obviously have to do a lot of different things to get yourself prepared for what I’m about to embark upon.”

Goldberg Says He’s Not Just “Showing Up to Show Up”

Goldberg made it clear that this match will not be just a formality. He emphasized that he is training to be at his best and refuses to treat this farewell as a mere appearance.

“I’m not just showing up to show up. I need to show up and be me and I’ve tapped into me a little bit more as of late,” he said. “With all injuries and with my age, it makes it extremely difficult to get prepared without going overboard.”

He admitted that his trademark intensity has actually caused some setbacks in his training. “I hurt myself a couple times in the past three months. But, I pulled back… I blew my shoulder out, blew my bicep out, pulled my hamstring from throwing a high kick.”

Goldberg Talks Training Adaptations and Lingering Injuries

Goldberg, now 58, spoke candidly about the toll his career has taken on his body. “I’m extremely limited because of my left knee. I can’t run… so I’m on a sprint bike and I’m doing different stuff for my cardio,” he explained. “The kickboxing doesn’t hurt that much because I’m not running.”

He also shared how shoulder pain forced him to stop using his right arm for nearly 5 years. “I’ve had to retrain myself to do the normal, daily things and use my arm… I became a lefty as a kid because I broke my right arm,” Goldberg added.

Goldberg’s Final WWE Match Will Be a Battle Against His Own Limits

Although the opponent remains unconfirmed, fans are expecting a blockbuster final showdown, possibly against Gunther. With his intense focus and sheer determination, Goldberg wants his final match to reflect the very persona that made him a legend.

“It’s just not favoring [my injuries] by any stretch… and not having it be a hindrance,” he said. “You find ways around things… the scenario’s not perfect by any stretch.”

Goldberg’s farewell may not be easy, but it promises to be nothing short of unforgettable.
