• Gunther Explains Why He’s Not Disappointed About Not Main Eventing WrestleMania 41

Gunther will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Jey Uso this Saturday on Night 1 of WrestleMania 41. However, the match won’t be the main event of WrestleMania Saturday.

During an interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, Gunther was asked if he’s disappointed that he’s not in the main event.

Here’s what The Ring General said:

“No, I’m not. There’s two main event spots. Some people argue there’s only one, which is Night 2. At the end of the day, they’re big achievements, but that’s nothing I want to stress about.

Because in the long term, later on when I finish my career and I’m able to be financially set up to take care of my family, I did all of this doing the thing that I always wanted to do. I don’t think if I never main event WrestleMania it’s gonna make a difference to how proud or happy I’ll be about my career.

That’s a mental challenge for us, the wrestlers. You want to do all those things naturally. You want to achieve this and do that, but it’s also important to put things into perspective and ground yourself a little bit.

If you always look for what’s next — ‘I want more’ — it’s an endless game. Where is the end? I’d rather be focused on what I’m doing at the moment and put all my effort there. Put my focus on that and try to make it the best thing possible. That’s when really good stuff happens.

I can’t control it anyway. I do my best and I will do my best anyway. It doesn’t matter where I would be on the card. I will do my best.”

• Originally Discussed Idea For Chelsea Green At WrestleMania 41

As WWE finalized the match cards for both nights of WrestleMania 41, one noticeable absence stood out: Women’s United States Champion Chelsea Green. Despite holding the newly introduced title, Green was not announced for either night of the event, and according to a report from Fightful Select, there were no concrete plans for her involvement.

Fightful reached out to WWE sources to clarify whether any creative direction had been planned for Green or her championship. They were informed that “as of late last week, she was not scheduled for the show.”

There had been some initial ideas floated to include Green in a non-wrestling capacity, including her being the Host of WrestleMania 41, but none were approved. “We’re told there had been a couple of pitches for her to host the show,” the report noted. However, by the time the weekend arrived, “there was nothing there.”

Sources close to WWE’s creative team suggested that there was still a slight possibility for Green to appear in a different capacity, but emphasized that no segment or skit had been added in the finalized formatting stages. “Once the show is formatted out, it’s possible that a skit or segment (could) be added,” one source said, before clarifying that, “as of each of the last two times we’d asked, that wasn’t the case.”

Chelsea will have a match on this Friday’s WrestleMania SmackDown, where she will team up with Secret Hervice (Piper Niven & Alba Fyre) to take on Zelina Vega, Katana Chance & Kayden Carter in a 6-woman tag team match.
