The December 6th 2004 episode of WWE Monday Night RAW featured the first ever all-female main event for a major TV-show in WWF/WWE history, that saw Lita defeating Trish Stratus for the WWE Women’s Championship.

On a recent episode of his weekly ‘Grilling JR’ podcast, 2007 WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross claimed that the male WWE Superstars in the locker room were furious over 2 women main eventing RAW for the first time ever.

Here’s what J.R. had to say about the legendary 2004 match between Trish and Lita:

“They were the first females to main event RAW, which I thought was great.

That’s a lot bigger deal — even today — than people give it credit for.

Many p*ssed-off wrestlers with testicles.

They (Trish and Lita) deserved the opportunity, and they delivered.”

A few months ago, Jim Ross tweeted the following about actually making the decision for that main event himself, as he was the ‘WWE Executive Vice President of Talent Relations’ at that time.

Here’s what he tweeted:

“You wouldn’t believe the push back from male wrestlers that I received when they found out that Trish Stratus and Lita were going to close RAW.

They deserved the opportunity and I’m happy that we did it.”
