On a recent episode of his ‘Cafe De Rene’ podcast, former WWE Superstar René Duprée revealed a backstage story about Vince McMahon rehiring The Boogeyman only a few hours after The Boogeyman was fired by John Laurinaitis.

Here’s what the former La Résistance member had to say:

“Did you ever hear the story about Boogeyman, when he got hired?

He got fired in the morning at 9 A.M. and then rehired at 3 O’Clock in the afternoon the same day.

You remember Johnny Ace? So, Johnny didn’t like The Boogeyman and then, I guess he thought he had enough power to be able to fire someone like The Boogeyman.

And then when Vince found out that The Boogeyman was fired, he made Johnny Ace call him up and rehire him. I think with a raise, actually.”

After being cut from WWE Tough Enough for lying about his real age, and wrestling at WWE’s then developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) for about a year, The Boogeyman made his WWE debut in October 2005 after months of weekly Vignettes about him.

He was the first and only wrestler to ever swallow living worms on television, which is still a unique selling proposition, but not something everyone really wants to see.

He was eventually let go in March 2009, but he has made countless WWE appearances ever since and ended up signing a ‘WWE Legends Deal’ in 2015 that included official WWE merchandise like T-shirts and Mattel action figures.
