Chris Benoit was renowned as one of the greatest professional wrestlers ever, but the tragic end to his life overshadowed his in-ring legacy. Despite this, Benoit made a significant impact on his peers, as revealed by Mark Henry.

On Busted Open Radio, Henry shared that he was close to quitting wrestling due to persistent injuries but was convinced to stay by Benoit.

During the 2000s, Henry suffered numerous injuries, including a severe one from a match with Benoit. After tearing his quad during recovery and dislocating his shoulder just before WrestleMania, Henry was on the verge of retirement.

Benoit reached out to Henry, urging him not to give up. He expressed concern and encouraged Henry to keep going, emphasizing that Henry had worked too hard to quit now.

Chris even offered to help Henry get back in shape and reassured him that his presence was needed in the industry.

Here’s what the World’s Strongest Man said:

“I tore my quad coming back — I was injured and went back to Louisville to knock the rust off, and then I tore my quad. I was out for 6 months, and then I healed up and I was on a roll. I was killing, about 8 months. And then I dislocated my shoulder. This is right before WrestleMania.

Benoit called me and checked on me. He said, ‘Hey, man, that was a tough deal. How are you feeling?’ I was like, ‘I think I’m done.’ The disappointment, I just couldn’t take it no more.

He said, ‘Listen, man, we worked too hard to get you where you are now for you to quit.’ He said, ‘I will come to Austin and get your a$$ in shape. You’re gonna heal up. It’s muscle and bone. Don’t let that mess with you. We need you. C’mon, man.’”
