Hangman Page lost the AEW World Championship to CM Punk in the main event of the AEW Double Or Nothing 2022 pay-per-view.

Below is what he tweeted about his loss:

“I’ve had a while to reflect on my time as AEW Champion now that it’s come to an end.

Thank you all, not for supporting me, but for supporting the vision.

It’s not about the gold or the glory, it’s about the common love and dignity with which we treat each other. Change the world.”

Next pay-per-view will be AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door, which will take place on June 26th.

On this week’s Dynamite, it was revealed that NJPW star Hiroshi Tanahashi will face Punk at this upcoming PPV. However, that match will not happen anymore because Punk is injured and will need surgery.

According to the Wrestling Observer, Hangman Page is expected to face Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship:

“The IWGP Title match won’t be able to be announced until the [Dynamite] on the 15th in St. Louis, 11 days before the [Forbidden Door PPV].

I had seen a lineup which was interesting because it was Punk & Tanahashi for the AEW Title, and the other match was Okada & Adam Page which actually could be a hell of a match for the IWGP Title.

Then the rest of the show is probably a lot of tag matches between factions on each side.”
