On a recent episode of his weekly ‘Oh You Didn’t Know?’ podcast, WWF Legend The Road Dogg Jesse James was asked if there’s a chance of CM Punk returning to WWE.
Here’s what the D-Generation X member said:
“I am the wrong guy to ask, that is the truth because I cannot hire nor fire, that is out of sight of my pay grade.
I did mention recently that he would move the needle by returning to WWE, but truth be told, that comment was made a long time ago … or whenever that was.
It just doesn’t seem like the right time to even talk about it, you know? Things are happening in real-time. God only knows what’s going to come out at the end of this.”
CM Punk was recently fired by Tony Khan, after yet another violent backstage incident at the All In 2023 UK pay-per-view, that also involved ‘Jungle Boy’ Jack Perry.
Here’s what The Road Dogg said about Khan’s reaction to the backstage brawl:
“I understand where he’s coming from. I think people need to understand that, to some people, that (the backstage fight) wouldn’t be frightening, like Samoa Joe, who popped up whenever whatever happened. Some people run towards the fire and some run away screaming. That’s just the way it works.”
CM Punk wrestled for World Wrestling Entertainment from 2006 until he refused to show up to work anymore in early 2014, which got him fired a few months later.
Phil Brooks then tried his luck in mixed martial arts (MMA), but after 2 UFC undercard-fighters defeated him pretty easily, Dana White didn’t give him another chance to fight in his promotion.
Punk then joined Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling in 2021 and managed to win the AEW World Title twice (and got injured during both reigns), but got suspended over a backstage brawl that took place after the All Out 2022 PPV.
He eventually returned to television on June 17th 2023 on the debut episode of AEW Collision, before finally being fired on September 2nd after yet another backstage fight.
