• “I apologized profusely” – Seth Rollins On Breaking John Cena’s Nose

On the July 27th 2015 episode of RAW, Seth Rollins broke John Cena’s nose with a knee strike.

This match was for the United States Championship and Rollins was the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at the time.

Despite the injury, Cena managed to finish the match and made Rollins tap out with the STF to retain the US Title.

During an interview on CBS Atlanta 92.8’s The Game Mornings, Rollins recalled this incident with Cena and said the following:

“I apologized profusely. John Cena and I wrestled a million times and every once in a while you’d get a clunker in there.

But this one was just, for some reason, I just made real contact with his face, and rearranged it pretty bad.”

• On This Day In Pro Wrestling History (January 23, 2000) – WWF Royal Rumble 2000

On this day in Pro Wrestling history on January 23, 2000, the World Wrestling Federation aired their annual ‘Royal Rumble’ event LIVE on PPV from the world famous Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York.

The ending of this Royal Rumble match was actually botched by the final two, as The Big Show’s feet were supposed to touch the ground first, but as it happens sometimes when you’re LIVE, you have no second chance to make it right, so The Rock’s feet touched the arena floor first, hence The Big Show would’ve been the winner here, but the WWF just didn’t show that angle (until weeks later on RAW), so The Rock was announced the official winner of the 2000 Royal Rumble match and is still listed as such in the record books.

Results:

Tazz defeated Kurt Angle

Tables match: The Hardy Boyz defeated The Dudley Boyz

Undisputed WWF Intercontinental Championship: Chris Jericho (c) defeated Chyna (c) and Hardcore Holly Triple

WWF Tag Team Championship: The New Age Outlaws (c) defeated The Acolytes

Street Fight – WWF Championship: Triple H (c) defeated Cactus Jack

The Rock won the 30-man Royal Rumble match
