‘The Rated R Superstar’ Adam Copeland – better known as WWF/WWE Legend Edge – made his All Elite Wrestling (AEW) debut on October 1, 2023, saving Sting & Darby Allin from an attack by Christian Cage, Luchasaurus & Nick Wayne.
Edge signed a full-time contract with AEW and made his Dynamite debut on October 4. His first AEW match is scheduled for a special Tuesday night Dynamite episode called ‘Title Tuesday’ on October 10, which will be against Luchasaurus.
During a recent episode of his ‘Tuesday with The Taskmaster’ podcast, WCW Legend Kevin Sullivan spoke about Edge joining Tony Khan’s company, which came somewhat as a surprise to most people.
Here’s what Sullivan had to say about Adam Copeland in AEW:
“I mean, he still looks in incredible shape. To me, maybe I’m turning into a dinosaur, but I like to see guys look like they’re not the guys that do my lawn.
You think if he wrestles Bryan Danielson people are going to say, while they’re doing this incredible match, ‘Oh, they’re 59 years old’? Danielson is a little younger than that. That ain’t going to come up because they’re not going to be sitting in their seat. They’re going to be standing, jumping around like fools, like the rest of us.”
Edge made his televised World Wrestling Federation debut in June 1998 and he stayed with the promotion until he was forced to retire in April 2011 due to ‘cervical spinal stenosis’.
However, the WWF Attitude Era Legend was cleared several years later and made his triumphant return to WWE at the 2020 Royal Rumble and worked as a part-time WWE Superstar until his contract expired and he jumped ship to AEW.
