Below are some top WWE & AEW news stories of the day:
– The Viking Raiders are currently feuding with The New Day. Erik & Ivar defeated Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods on the August 28th episode of RAW.
As of late, Ivar has faced Kofi and Xavier in singles matches on RAW and lost both of them.
According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE has started using Ivar as a singles competitor because Erik is out of action with an injury:
“The decision to push Ivar as a singles player was made because Erik is out after surgery, said to be out for at least 6 months. In the past when one member of a tag team that’s usually an exclusive team gets hurt, they’ve just not used the other much.”
– As we have reported before, World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins has dropped teases related to CM Punk multiple times on RAW, which has sparked rumors that Punk will return to WWE after almost 10 years, at Survivor Series 2023 in Chicago.
According to the Wrestling Observer, Punk and WWE are indeed in talks for a return:
“Regarding CM Punk, there is obviously tons of talk regarding him returning. There have been rumors that it’s happening, but those in WWE have only said that no deal is completed and those close to Punk have told us that it is his intention to return and the two sides are in talks.
One would expect if such a deal is made that Survivor Series weekend in Chicago would be the time to do the surprise return.”
Punk was last seen in WWE at Royal Rumble 2014.
– Dax Harwood has filed a trademark for the name “CMFTR”, which is the trios team name for AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR and former AEW World Champion CM Punk.
