• “I think he was in denial” – Bruce Prichard On Kurt Angle In 2006

On a recent episode of his ‘Something To Wrestle With’ podcast, ‘Brother Love’ Bruce Prichard talked about Kurt Angle leaving the WWE in 2006 and joining Total Nonstop Action! shortly thereafter.

Bruce was asked if he was surprised to see Kurt show up in TNA, to which Prichard replied:

“No. I think Kurt was in denial and I think Kurt needed something. Kurt always needs something to do. So while Kurt may say with his mouth, ‘I need to rest. I need to do that. I need to rejuvenate. I need to do this to recover or what have you.’ He will say the right things, but Kurt’s drive will not allow him to sit and do the things necessary a lot of times.”

Kurt Angle wasn’t only addicted to pain killers in 2006, but was also injecting a lot of Deca-Durabolin (Nandrolone), which is an anabolic steroid that makes you gain muscle-size very quickly.

The pain pills alone were dangerous and had several risks and side effects, that harm the human body, but combined with such a heavy steroid, it’s not worth risking his health and possibly even his life back then.

With that being said, something had to be done to basically protect him from himself.

Kurt Angle ended up wrestling at Total Nonstop Action! (now known as iMPACT Wrestling) for 10 years, from 2006 until 2016.
