Below are a couple of top news stories of the day, featuring The Rock.
• “I’ll slap him up” – NJPW Star Threatens The Rock
NJPW wrestler Gabe Kidd, known for his outspoken nature, recently targeted The Rock. Speaking with MuscleManMalcolm, Kidd addressed the recent video of The Rock wearing a New Japan Pro Wrestling shirt.
Gabe dismissed The Rock’s actions as attention-seeking and stated plainly, “He’s trying to catch a buzz off. Listen, couldn’t care less. Couldn’t care less about Dwayne.”
Furthermore, Kidd didn’t hold back on a potential confrontation. “If he wants to come to New Japan, I’ll slap him up. No problem,” he declared. He downplayed The Rock’s status by adding, “It’s Dwayne Johnson, bro. It’s Dwayne Johnson. Wow. He was in Jumanji 2.”
Previously, reports indicated that New Japan Pro Wrestling was surprised by The Rock’s video, having no prior knowledge of it.
• 2x HOFer Says The Rock Is Looking At What’s Best For Him, Not WWE
2-Time WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash has shared his thoughts on rumors of backstage issues between Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and WWE’s Chief Content Officer Triple H, saying he doesn’t believe there’s much tension at all.
Speaking on his ‘Kliq This’ podcast, Nash said, “I don’t see the tension.” He pointed to The Rock’s busy schedule in Hollywood as a major reason why he wouldn’t be involved in internal WWE politics. “Does anybody know what IMDb is and then you go to their page and you see the projects he has? Dwayne is pretty busy,” Nash said.
Nash believes The Rock’s focus right now is on his own WWE storyline, not backstage power struggles. “You have to realize he still has skin in the game. He still has ring time left and he wants certain things to align a certain way for him,” he explained.
“Dwayne is not looking at what’s best for the company. He’s looking at what’s best for the (Final Boss) character,” Nash added.
