Mick Foley: REMEMBERING THE IRON SHEIK

The wrestling world lost a true legend today, with the passing of Khosrow Vaziri, better known to fans across the globe as The Iron Sheik.

Although I never got to know The Sheik well, I was fortunate to have been on hand for two of his most iconic matches – his WWF Title victory over Bob Backlund at Madison Square Garden on December 26, 1983 and his “Boot Camp Match” with Sgt Slaughter at MSG in August, 1984. I also had the honor of wrestling The Iron Sheik for the first and only time – on a tour of Dominica in 1987.

Khosrow Vaziri was truly one of a kind.

I send my deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all those who loved him.

Triple H: The legend. An all-time great performer and WWE Hall of Famer who brought his character to life and transcended our business. My condolences to The Iron Sheik’s family, friends and fans.

Lance Storm: RIP The Iron Sheik. Respect the Legend, always.

William Regal: My deepest condolences to the family of The Iron Sheik. The few times we sat and talked it was always a great conversation as you were quite and interesting and we talked about many people we had a connection with. Never talking in our Pro characters. Rest well.

JBL: Love Mr Sheik! So many good times. He thought my name was Brad Shaw, two names. He met my dad and said “ah, Mr Shaw, your boy Brad is such a fine young man”. Love you Mr Sheik. RIP you legend.

Karrion Kross: Iron Sheik played a pivotal role in the development of imagination in my childhood as a kid. I grew up and watched him with educated eyes, he was incredibly fun to watch and at times brilliant with the live audience. And that’s how I’ll always remember him.

Sgt. Slaughter: Our Last Cobra🐍 Clutch Together. Very Saddened To Hear That My Favorite In Ring Opponent Khosrow Vaziri Passed Away This Morning 😔
