Fans are reacting to Jake Paul’s (brother of WWE Superstar Logan Paul) recent revelation about his earnings from his upcoming fight against WWE Hall of Famer (Celebrity Wing) Mike Tyson. Despite criticism from boxing purists over the 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer facing off against the 58-year-old boxing legend, the match is expected to draw significant attention when it airs LIVE on Netflix in November.
The fight, originally scheduled for July 20, was postponed due to Tyson’s ulcer flare-up, which impacted his training. Both fighters agreed to reschedule to ensure equal preparation time. Following the postponement, Tyson said, “Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end, you will still be knocked out and out of boxing for good.”
At a recent press conference, Paul revealed the staggering amount he expects to earn, saying, “I didn’t bring him to do sh*t; I’m here to make $40 million and knock out a legend. I don’t give a f**k about anything else, he’s the one who wanted it to be a pro fight and he’s going to get his a$$ knocked out for real.”
Paul added, “You’re going to see on his record; Jake Paul KOs Mike Tyson; I’m not here to do s**t except make a bag. Every time fighters sit across from me and it’s ‘YouTuber this and Disney kid that’ and they end up on the canvas… this is going to be no different.”
He continued, “I brought this deal to this old a$$ motherf***er, we signed the contract with Netflix, and we brought him the deal. You’re welcome, my son.”
Fans have been skeptical of Paul’s claims, with some requesting proof. One fan tweeted, “We are living in the scammers paradise era,” while another added, “Let’s see the receipts!” Despite the skepticism, some acknowledged that the controversy around Paul only adds to his earnings, calling it “part of the shtick.”
Tyson, meanwhile, reflected on his motivations, stating, “I’m a glory junkie. I love people thinking about me all day. I’d rather live a short life of glory than a long life of obscurity. It’s just who I am. This is all I started fighting for—to get all this f***ing status. I’m going to be chasing it for the rest of my life. I know that. I’m never going to get what I want because I’m one of those gluttons for pain. I can never get enough.”
The Boxing Match between Jake Paul, who has a record of 10-1 with 6 KOs, and Mike Tyson, who has a record of 50-6 with 44 KOs, will take place on November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, live on Netflix.
