• Jim Ross Gives An Update On Jerry Lawler After Speaking With Him

As we reported earlier, WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry Lawler didn’t suffer a stroke, it was actually a carotid artery issue, for which he underwent surgery.

Below is what veteran wrestling journalist Bill Apter reported:

“Some updated news on Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler – my Friend. It was not a stroke, as initially reported.

I found out from a family member just about a few minutes ago that it was an issue with Jerry’s carotid artery, surgery was performed. He is in the hospital still and on the mend and sitting up in bed, I was told.

He is starting to recuperate. Our prayers have been answered. Again, it was not a stroke, it was an issue with the carotid artery.

The member of the family wants me to say thank you for all your prayers, and we will keep you updated.”

Lawler’s longtime friend and former commentary partner Jim Ross gave the following update on The King:

“I spoke very briefly with ⁦Jerry Lawler tonight. He’s obviously weak but I could understand his affected speech.

Jerry’s prognosis is positive but he needs all our thoughts and prayers. #LoveYaKing”

During an interview with Commercial Appeal, WMC-TV Chief Meteorologist Dave Brown (who is also Lawler’s friend) said the following:

“Some of the initial reports were just horrible, so I feel much better than I did 18 hours ago when I felt like I got hit in the face with a shovel.

I was incredibly encouraged after I did a FaceTime. Jerry was alert. He talked to me. He could only say a couple words at a time, which is pretty normal. But he was able to move both legs and both arms.”
