3. Reason Behind Steel Cage Match Taking Place At Extreme Rules 2017, Reason Behind WWE Doing A Lot Of Multi-Person Matches As Of Late

– As seen on this week’s episode of Raw, Matt Hardy defeated Sheamus to earn the opportunity to name the stipulation for their Raw Tag Team Title match between The Hardy Boyz and Cesaro & Sheamus for Extreme Rules 2017.

The match that The Hardy Boyz chose for Extreme Rules 2017 is a Steel Cage match. With The Hardy Boyz being involved in an Extreme Rules PPV, fans were expecting them to be involved in a Ladder or TLC match. The reason behind WWE deciding to go with a Steel Cage match is that they have already done two ladder matches in a short peroid of time (WrestleMania 33 & NXT TakeOver: Chicago) and booking another ladder match this soon would be an overdo.

– WWE officials have been booking a lot of multi-person matches as of late. As seen on this week’s episode of Raw & SmackDown Live, tag team matches headlined both shows.

The reason behind this is that booking is slow nowadays as WWE officials don’t have many ideas for storylines until SummerSlam 2017 season arrives. Until then, expect a lot of filler matches on WWE programming.
