13. Originally Planned SummerSlam 2017 Main Event Still Taking Place
As we noted before, Braun Strowman underwent surgery to repair his “shattered elbow” and WWE announced that Strowman will be out of action for about 6 months. Below is what WWE posted:
Braun Strowman underwent surgery following the attack by Roman Reigns. Immediately after the assault on Strowman’s injured shoulder and elbow by the former WWE Champion, The Monster Among Men left in an ambulance and was able to get back to the United States for an evaluation. Following the medical consultation, Strowman underwent surgery with Dr. Jeffrey Dugas. During the procedure, it was revealed, among his other injuries, that Strowman’s elbow had been shattered, and he is expected to miss up to six months of action as a result.
It should be noted that WWE announcing that Strowman will be out of action for 6 months is just a work and he’s expected to be back within 2 months (this will help WWE is putting over “The Monster Among Men” by noting how he recovered months before his original recovery time).
With the “Strowman being out of action for 6 months” update being just a work, the original SummerSlam 2017 main event – Brock Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman for the WWE Universal Championship – remains intact.
Strowman is expected to return to WWE programming by mid-July to begin the build for his feud with Lesnar.
