Below are a couple of top AEW news stories of the day:
– Former WWE wrestler Sami Callihan (fka Solomon Crowe during his time in NXT) recently became a free agent as his deal with IMPACT Wrestling expired.
According to Fightful Select, there is no ill will between the two sides, and the reason Callihan is no longer with IMPACT is simply because the two sides could not agree on a new deal.
The report also noted that people in All Elite Wrestling are pushing for him to be signed by the company. One of the people among those names is former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, who has had a great relationship with Callihan over the years.
His name has also come up for Producer roles in other companies.
– In the main event of AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam over a week ago, Ring Of Honor World Tag Team Champion Adam Cole tweaked his ankle while running down the ramp and jumping at ringside during the AEW World Championship match between his partner MJF and ROH TV Champion Samoa Joe.
He was visibly limping later and was in a lot of pain backstage. After the show, he was taken to a hospital. Cole left the hospital using crutches.
On Dynamite this past Wednesday, Cole revealed that he needs surgery for his ankle, so he and MJF would have to vacate the ROH World Tag Team Championship. However, MJF refused to do so.
MJF will now defend the titles against The Righteous in a 2 On 1 Handicap match at tonight’s WrestleDream pay-per-view.
According to Fightful, Cole’s girlfriend Britt Baker will likely not be at television for a couple of weeks because she is going to take care of him. She had to drive him around, and be around him as he is not able to take care of himself due to the injury.
