Former WWE commentator Jonathan Coachman had the following to say about Corey Graves not being happy about being demoted to the NXT commentary team due to the return of Pat McAfee:

“So Corey is upset for being bumped from the main announce roster. Happened to JR 5 times. Happened to Cole multiple times. Happened to me multiple times. He is right he is really good at his job. But playing in the sandbox a little bit better might not hurt next time.

Embrace whatever role you have and understand that you are lucky to have it. There are only 3-5 of these jobs at the highest level.

Who knows maybe they asked him to be a part of a 3 man booth. We know he doesn’t like that. lol. Sorry had to. Last line a joke. The rest it’s the wrestling business. It happens.

Work or NOT not being on the big shows after doing it for so many years will jilt anyone. It’s about respect and when the WWE is now on the biggest platform with the biggest deal of all time I would lean toward upset over it’s a work.

He can’t wrestle. If he could I might think he would do something. It sucks when your body won’t allow you to do it. That’s why I said he had a great gig just wait until the fall and he will get the show back.”

When a fan said Coach is being worked, he replied:

“Bob I would be getting worked if I was talking as a fan. I gave my take from experience and being around many of us at the announce table who this has happened to.

If it’s part of the show awesome. I don’t want anything bad to happen. But this is not something new to happen to announcers even after being there for a while. And if it’s a work great, but the fact of the matter is, he’s not doing RAW or SmackDown, which are the two biggest shows in the company. And that’s fact.”

When another fan said it’s a work and that Corey will show up in the Men’s Royal Rumble match, Coach replied:

“He physically can’t wrestle. It sucks it’s no fault of his own. That’s the caveat to all of you that are saying that. I could understand if he wanted to go from the announce table and then become a full-time worker, but he was hurt a long time ago and he cannot get into the ring. So that doesn’t make any sense.

Now if you want to become a manager, he would still have to be able to do physical work because they’re never gonna put a manager ringside that talks trash as a heel who can’t take an a$$ kicking.

You guys have gotta think this stuff through and not just say what do you know. I know that I was there for 13 years. I did every single big show that the WWE has to offer and oh by the way I was also into Royal Rumbles. That’s all fact.”

Below are some more exchanges between fans and The Coach:

Fan: He’s also 100% getting his seat back on RAW when McAfee goes back to ESPN.

Coach: Bingo. That was my point. Keep your mouth shut and you still get 5 months a year. Which is 5 more months than almost anyone gets.

Fan: He’s probably getting tagged in a lot of posts because Corey Graves was the one who boxed Jonathan Coachman out that led to his exit.

Coach: #facts. But no ill will at all. But he was the very first person that I could not work with. All of us learned early in our WWE careers you are promised nothing. And you work with who Vince told you to without complaining. And a 3 man booth isn’t good anyone. But it’s really not good when one of those in the booth is not a team player. It’s like running the 3 man weave in basketball. If one person doesn’t buy in it doesn’t work and for us it didn’t work.
