LA Knight’s First Opponent For US Title Revealed On SmackDown

Below are the complete results from tonight’s SmackDown, featuring Roman Reigns in the main event segment.

– Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes kicked off tonight’s post-SummerSlam episode of SmackDown. Cody said he has been thinking about who he’ll defend his title against at Bash In Berlin. Solo Sikoa came out with Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa. Solo is wearing the Ula Fala. Solo said if it wasn’t for Roman Reigns, he would be the WWE Champion right now. Sikoa wants a rematch for the title. Cody said Solo couldn’t get the job done and got Jacob Fatu hurt. Cody said Solo is delusional if he thinks he has any claim to a rematch. Solo and the Tongas were about to attack Cody, but Kevin Owens came out with two steel chairs. Solo said he’ll go after Cody after he finds Roman. Cody said he’ll be waiting. Cody’s music hit, but Cody signaled to cut his music and called Kevin back into the ring as he wants to talk about something. Cody said he’d like to face Owens at Bash In Berlin with the WWE Title on the line. Owens said he doesn’t deserve a title match as title matches need to be earned, look at his win-loss record from the last year. Kevin said he’s not the man for this. Rhodes said he has not forgotten about the sacrifices Owens has made for him. Rhodes said Owens can say no all he wants, but he’s going backstage to have a conversation with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis to make this championship match official.

– Angelo Dawkins said it’s been 3 years since The Street Profits have held the tag team titles.

– The Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) def. A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory & Grayson Waller) in a No.1 Contender’s Qualifying Match

– In a backstage segment with Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes, Nick Aldis revealed that he’s thinking about giving an Undisputed WWE Championship rematch to Roman Reigns. Owens lost it and questioned why Roman is getting a rematch because he never received a rematch when he lost the Universal Championship back in 2017. Owens said if Aldis wants a challenger for Cody, he should check the SmackDown roster instead of just handing Roman a title match. Aldis then gave Owens the title match and Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens for the WWE Championship is now official for Bash In Berlin.

– Chelsea Green and Piper Niven said Tiffany Stratton is faking her friendship with WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax, so she can cash-in her Money In The Bank contract successfully.

– Jade Cargill def. WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Alba Fyre

Blair Davenport and Isla Dawn attacked Jade and Bianca Belair after the match, which led to Naomi coming out to even the odds. The babyface sent the heels packing.

– “The Hulk” Lou Ferrigno was shown in attendance:

– Fans chanted “you deserve it” at LA Knight. Knight said he’s a marked man now that he’s the United States Champion. Santos Escobar came out with Legado Del Fantasma. Escobar said he doesn’t buy Knight as a champion. Escobar said he deserves to be the US Champion. Knight said he won’t let Escobar get the title, not because Escobar isn’t good enough, but because The Mega Star won’t let him.

– A vignette aired for former Imperium member Giovanni Vinci’s debut on the blue brand. You can watch it below:

– Santos Escobar def. Andrade after interference from Carmelo Hayes to become the No.1 Contender for LA Knight’s US Title

– A tribute video for Kevin Sullivan aired.

– Austin Theory suggested Nick Aldis the idea of booking Kevin Owens vs. Grayson Waller. Aldis made it official.

– #DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) def. Pretty Deadly in a No.1 Contender’s Qualifying Match

– Tama Tonga told Solo Sikoa that Roman Reigns isn’t here. Solo told him to not worry as Roman will be here. Solo Sikoa, Tama and Tonga Loa came out to the ring. Loa is carrying Jacob Fatu’s WWE Tag Team Title. Jacob isn’t here tonight as he’s injured. Solo told the fans to acknowledge him and they chanted “We Want Roman”. Solo told Roman that he’s The Tribal Chief now and if he wants the Ula Fala back, then he can come take it back from him.

Roman’s music hit to a HUGE pop and all the fans are on their feet chanting OTC. Tama goes after Roman, but Roman takes him down. Loa attacks Roman and Roman lays him out too. Roman attacked both of them with steel ring steps.

Reigns then brawled with Sikoa and hit a Superman Punch. Roman was going for the spear, but Solo managed to escape. Roman picked up the Ula Fala, but the Tongas attacked him from behind and Solo took it back. Reigns laid out the Tongas again. Roman speared Tama through the barricade and assaulted Loa with a Steel Chair to end the show, as Sikoa looked on.
