• Braun Strowman Comments On The Origin Of His WWE Name

During a recent interview with WTMJ-TV Milwaukee, Raw Superstar “The Monster Among Men” Braun Strowman shared the story of his in-ring name “Braun” being influenced by a player from the Milwaukee Brewers.

Below is what Strowman said:

“The Milwaukee Brewers welcomed me with open arms, I wanted to go to a game last year. They found out I went – I didn’t really reach out – I went with a cousin who’s boss would take him about once a month or so to watch a Brewers game.

I just happened to be in town and he asked me if I wanted to come. I jumped along and we were hanging there, someone noticed that I was there, and all of a sudden I’m getting phone calls. The Brewers PR guy grabs me and takes me and my cousin to the press box and takes us down to meet the players.

Funny story, I wanted to meet Ryan Braun because that’s a big influence of where ‘Braun’ came from.

I had pitched a bunch of ideas for names with the company (WWE) and they turned them all down. It kind of got down to a time crunch, we need to figure out something out now. We were sitting around the Performance Center and Sportscenter was on and they were talking about Ryan Braun and I was like ‘Braun, that sounds pretty good.’ I mean look at me, I’m 6’8 and 385 lbs., I mean Braun is pretty fitting.”

• Lackluster Plans For Top SmackDown Live Stars At WrestleMania 34?

The storyline between Kevin Owens – Sami Zayn – Shane McMahon – Daniel Bryan has been going on SmackDown Live for a while now. However, it looks like this storyline won’t culminate in a match at WrestleMania 34.

We reported earlier via Dirty Sheets that Shane McMahon & Daniel Bryan vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn was the original plan for WrestleMania 34, but Bryan refused to do that match as WWE planned on having him stand on the apron for 95% of the match.

WWE officials then decided last week to book Shane McMahon vs. Dolph Ziggler for WrestleMania 34.

With that being said, there were rumors that Kevin Owens could be facing Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 34 (with them breaking up as a unit during their WWE Title match at FastLane 2018 and Zayn already teasing it by pinning Owens on this week’s SmackDown Live), but it looks like WWE might be having lackluster plans for these two top heels of SmackDown Live.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, WWE is planning to put Owens & Zayn in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal and that there are no plans for a singles match between them.
