• Legend Says WWE Unreal Crew Intentionally Made Him Look Bad In The Chelsea Green Story
Michael Hayes has officially fired back against his portrayal in the Netflix series WWE Unreal, claiming that the documentary intentionally edited him to look like a heel by cutting his praise for Chelsea Green.
Speaking on The Undertaker’s Six Feet Under podcast, Hayes revealed that he specifically told producers Green was as talented as anyone on the roster, yet those remarks were left on the cutting room floor in favor of more controversial comments regarding her “ceiling.”
While Hayes stands by his assessment of Green’s current position, he argues that the machine pushing her too hard might actually destroy the organic, underdog connection she has with her audience.
He compared her situation to wrestlers like Daniel Bryan and Kofi Kingston, noting that if Green truly catches fire through fan support, the company would pivot to her in a heartbeat. For now, however, Hayes believes her value lies in her ability to make others look good — a role he admits makes her underutilized, but one he says she performs brilliantly.
Despite the backlash from Green herself, who expressed hurt over the footage, Hayes remains unapologetic about his honesty. He maintains that while she is capable of handling a top spot, the fans’ rebel support for her is fueled by the feeling that she is self-made rather than corporate-sponsored.
According to Hayes, handing her a massive push right now could cause that very fanbase to fade away, as the thrill of supporting an overlooked talent would disappear.
