Below are a couple of top news stories of the day, featuring Lex Luger, Miss Elizabeth, and Roman Reigns.
• Lex Luger has taken responsibility for his role in Miss Elizabeth’s tragic passing, acknowledging that his reckless lifestyle contributed to her overdose on May 1, 2003.
While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Luger denied killing her but admitted that their constant proximity and his heavy partying were factors in her death.
Luger reflected on how, at the time, he was more concerned about his career than grieving her loss, something he now regrets. He also believes her passing may have prevented him from being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Here’s what the WWF/WCW Legend said:
“The tragic passing of Elizabeth — people say, ‘He killed Elizabeth.’ Well, I didn’t kill her. But was I a contributing factor to the lifestyle I was living, with her being around me all the time, and then she overdosed? Absolutely.
Absolutely, I take responsibility. Sure, there’s always collateral damage to lifestyles like that, and she was part of it. So absolutely—sadly. The level I was partying at, and she was so much smaller.
I hate to admit it, but who I was back then — instead of grieving over the loss of Liz, I was grieving over what this would do to me and my career.”
• Roman Reigns was written off WWE programming at the Royal Rumble, after Seth Rollins took him out with multiple stomps.
WWE has now announced that Reigns will return on the March 21st episode of SmackDown:
“BREAKING: The OTC Roman Reigns will be LIVE on SmackDown from Bologna, Italy, on Friday, March 21 and London, England on Friday, March 28!”
The Tribal Chief issued the following statement about his return:
“Greatness is coming to Bologna and London.
Your Tribal Chief has business to attend to. Receipts are coming…”
Reigns is rumored to face Seth Rollins and CM Punk in a Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania 41.
